Picture this: the year is 2021, a west-coast IPA resurgence is beginning and lagers are starting to become cool again. One style that wasn’t particularly cool in 2021 was the imperial pastry sour (then again, maybe it still isn’t) but despite that, we released our 11.5% Marshmallow Smoothie Sour (MSS) to much fanfare. Achieving ABVs as high as that with our house culture is extremely challenging but we’re 4 years on from that initial foray into big pastry sours so it was about time we set ourselves the challenge of rebrewing this one. Selfishly, MSS was one of the first beers I had a hand in when I started at Vault City and to tell you the truth, I was craving a little bit of nostalgia but I don’t want to tell the brewers that that’s the real reason for this rebrew
